We know that the biggest counter argument to a full-glam look is “Ain’t nobody got time for that.” We hear you. Whether you’re on your way to work, packing for a trip, or just can’t be bothered to do a 15-step contour routine everyday, we’ve got you covered with ways to get the most punch out of very few steps.
Choose Products That Multitask
A great way to cut down on the chaos in your makeup bag is to seek out products that have multiple uses. Working with fewer products can not only simplify the dilemma of choice, but make the steps that you do choose to include a lot more impactful. Here are a few of our favorites:
Brown Pencil: Need a high impact look? Smudge a brown pencil along your upper and lower lashline and blend it out with your finger. Add a swipe to your waterline and follow with a generous sweeping of mascara to finish the most simple smokey-eye look to enter your life. Not only is brown a lot more forgiving than black, it’s color allows it to act as more than just an eyeliner. Fill in any sparse areas in your brows, or, feather it along your lips (softly) if you’re ever missing the liner that goes with your killer bold lip a la Khloe Kardashian. Quick drama in a bind, sorted.
Coconut Oil: Unless you’ve been living on a deserted island, you’ve probably heard by now that coconuts aren’t just for pina coladas anymore. Coconut oil has recently gained popularity as one of the best oils you can use on your body. Warm some up for an easy hair mask, smooth it over dry knees and elbows, mix some in with coffee grounds for a cellulite-reducing scrub, or swish some around in your mouth to whiten your teeth, a practice called “oil pulling”. The possibilities are endless. Definitely safe to say we’re loco for coco.
Loose Pigments: Finding a color pigment that you love can really go a long way in the multitasking sphere. For instance, a pearl or champagne color can function as an eyeshadow, highlighter, or, when mixed with a little dab of the aforementioned coconut oil (like we said, endless possibilities), a lip gloss! Or, try a liquid version. A light pink or coral shade can be a blush when tapped over the cheeks or dapped on the lips for a subtle tint.
Invest In Your Skincare
Spending a little time on a few extra steps on your skincare routine could potentially cut your cosmetic routine in half. Though you’ll be saving time later, the benefits are actually much greater than saving time. Your skin is the largest “organ” in your body, and taking care of it is absolutely essential. Moisturize and wear SPF daily to prevent aging in the future at the bare minimum, but try mixing in a toner and a night cream to see some serious changes. Once your skin is glowing and gorgeous, your need for foundation will be hugely reduced. In the meantime, try something like a BB/CC cream to moisturize, add SPF, and a little bit of a tint to your complexion.
