Gaining acknowledgment from the higher-ups within your organization and your peers can be your foot in the door towards your next big your career move. Often times, standing out at work can lead to better project assignments, a raise, and/or promotion, and perhaps most importantly, respect from your peers and even the big boss. So, are you ready to stand out like the girl boss you were born to be? Then read these 3 simple yet career changing tips below!
Embrace Your Unique Way of Thinking
Your experiences and outlook on life are a part of what make you unique and different from anyone else. This is a good thing. Because of this, you have fresh, unique and sometimes even better ideas to offer up. Instead of downplaying your ideas or writing them off, embrace them. The next time an amazing idea or solution comes to mind, don’t be afraid to share it with the team. Instead, vet your idea, think it through and develop it as much as possible. Try taking it a step further by anticipating some of the questions that your colleagues or boss may have, this way when you’re presenting said amazing idea, you can do so confidently. Remember, you have talents and gifts unlike anyone else to bring to table – you wouldn’t be there if you didn’t. Don’t forget that.
Become an Authority
So, now that you’ve shared your unique and fresh solutions and ideas with the team it’s time to take it to the next level. Do so by becoming an authority or the go-to person within your company for a specific area within your expertise. Doing so will make you an invaluable asset to your organization. It’s important to keep in mind that while this won’t necessarily earn you a spot on the most popular list, you will undoubtedly earn the respect of your peers while gaining credibility throughout the company – which is the goal anyway. Right?
Exhibit an Excellent Work Ethic
I’m confident that as the successful and ambitious working woman that you are, you have an outstanding work ethic. You wouldn’t have made it this far without it. It’s important that you hold on it regardless of what may be going on around you. As a working professional, there may times where you are tempted to slack off a bit. Perhaps a few of colleagues are habitual slackers or perhaps you are tired, stressed out or simply feel like you “just can’t” on a particular day, push through. You didn’t make it this far by being mediocre, so why would you start now? Always make it a point to show up and stand out!
