NO PARABENS | NO PHTHALATES | NO SULFATES | NO SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES |
NO HARMFUL PETROCHEMICALS | NO ANIMAL CRUELTY | VEGAN | GLUTEN-FREE
We’re pumped to provide clean ingredients and potent formulas with every product we launch. This transparency is what keeps us honest and accountable, and empowers you to learn about our products, unlike any other skincare brand. Many people think our products are “organic” or purely plant-based; the truth is, we’ve hit the sweet spot between a mixture of nature and science to create potent formulas with clean ingredients. This is the secret behind our products’ efficacy and simplicity. No fragrances needed, no harmful chemicals necessary.

Let’s face it, we can only add so much to our products to get them to smell nice. When you think about it though, do you really need to jeopardize your skin’s well-being just to smell like a pink grapefruit?

Here’s the truth: in order to eliminate unnecessary ingredients from our formulas, we had to learn to embrace the natural funk of these potent formulas. To tell you the truth, we kinda like it this way! How could we promote embracing your most natural you, only to cover up our own realness? No, they will not make your face stinky... just cleaner and healthier! All we’re saying is, we don’t fake the funk. We embrace it! Fortunately, our tribe seems to like it, too!

Power Players

Our power players are the active ingredients that take your skin from dull to DAMN. They’re also what make our products into lean, mean, funk machines. On their own, we'd say these are some pretty awesome ingredients. Together, they're a powerful combination that gives you healthy skin that lets you be as authentically you as possible.

How to make a skincare product

Have you ever wondered what it takes to make a skin care product? Well, it’s not just a random mixture of liquids and scents - there’s a science to it! Instead of going all Heisenberg with a chemistry lesson, we’ll fill you in on the basics of the average skin care product in order to give you a sense of what’s inside every No B.S. skin care product.

At No B.S., we want you to know as much as possible about the ingredients that go on your skin. We pride ourselves in using the cleanest and most potent elements possible to make sure you get safe skin care products that actually work!

Our combination of plant-based and scientific heavy-hitters gives us the opportunity to do just that. Use the legend below to identify the necessary ingredients for a skin care product and learn why each ingredient is used. Looking for a specific ingredient? Let's bust some myths...

AQUA

When you see this ingredient in your beauty products, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s watered down. The water in skin care products is used as a vehicle of sorts to contain all the different ingredients together and allow them to move from bottle to skin cohesively. Think of “Aqua” as a train and all of the other ingredients as passengers in that train. Next stop: your skin!

ACIDS

We’ve been conditioned to think that acids are harmful chemicals that melt through surfaces. Fortunately, that’s not the case with skincare acids. You’ll notice we love using certain acids, like hyaluronic acid, ascorbic acid, and salicylic acid. That’s because they tap into the rejuvenating and effective elements that boost our formula’s effectiveness.

It’s understandable to feel a bit hesitant at first, especially if it’s your first time; but if you’re ready to level up your skin care game, acids are a great place to start.

ALCOHOL

It's the deal breaker for most savvy skincare shoppers but what you may not know is that not all alcohols are created equal. While some are volatile enough to damage your skin barrier, good ones do exist (and no, they won't leave skin high and dry).

Fatty alcohols (cetyl, stearyl, cetearyl, propylene glycol) function as emollients and thickeners. They're not irritating to the skin and help retain moisture, making them an unsung hero for those with sensitive skin and rosacea.

While it's easy to spot alcohols in an ingredient list (mostly because they end in -ol) their function and benefit may not be as clear. Use the list above as a starting reference, and when in doubt, send us your questions!
